Hi, I'm Jo, most call me Joey (i still haven't figured why) but why change a 15 year tradition?
For me, almost every client brings a new challenge, be it toning, fat loss, improved CV or just overall health improvement and that's what makes training people so enjoyable. However big or small your goals maybe, I can give you the right tools, motivation, support and experience to push you in the right direction.
Training has been an integral part of my being for over 20 years. I have been very fortunate to have traveled and lived abroad in some exotic locations, this gave me the option to run for miles along vast sandy beaches (not a bad way to keep up your CV work aswell as keep toned!) Ive surfed in the warm waters of the pacific with a famous female long board champion- great leg work!, done yoga on the beach with howler monkeys looking down from the tress above..we all love to improve our flexibility.. there came a point in my life where i was asked to manage a beachtown gym in the very beautiful Tamarindo (Costa Rica) it was here i spent many hours watching personal trainers help to educate and improve their clients health, physique and fitness levels, i knew there and then where my passion could really turn into something more rewarding.
Fast forward a few years and after the birth of my beautiful daughter and a pretty big move back to the UK, i finally qualified as a Personal Trainer, I even threw in a few exercise classes such as kettlebells for fitness and boxing for fitness, just for good measure..and I'm sure ill be doing much more in time to come. I love doing charity events and will be participating in the Race for Life Pretty Mudder again this summer, keep your eyes open or come join me! You may also see me in and about the local supermarkets doing continuous spinning for donations for Autism Plus.
After being an active member of the gym for many years, I was getting bored of my routine, stuck in a rut, and not seeing any real results. I've had 3 sessions with Joey so far, and have been delighted with the progress made so far. Joey has shown me new exercises and routines that I can do to invigorate my workout, focus more on my 'problem areas' and is helping me work towards achieving my target result in line for my wedding next year.
I started my PT journey in May of this year after winning a completion for 6 free PT hours, which came at the very best time for me. I have been a regular gym member but I was looking to stop, due to ongoing health issues. I have been struggling with poor health for a couple of years, but kept going to the gym and doing what I thought was the right thing. I hadn’t really seen much of an improvement in my body shape or fitness over the previous 8 months and I was starting to lose motivation, then I was contacted by EIS and told that I had won the competition and that Joanne would be in contact shortly.
After Joanne had contacted me and booked me in for my first session I instantly started to feel more positive and motivated to give it my all. I went to the first session full of enthusiasm and with an open mind ready for what was going to be asked of me. My fitness levels at the time wasn’t what they had been previously and I was feeling slightly nervous about being able to do what she wanted me to, but I needn’t have been.
My first session - I had a quick chat with Joanna to go through what my goals are and then the rest of the time was mostly spent in the functional area, an area I have to admit, I hadn’t really ventured into before. I instantly felt at ease with Joanne and found her to be very friendly, open and funny. A lot of the exercises I did with Joanne I had never done before, so the work out what hard for me and I did feel it the following day, but the feeling I left with after the first session and each session since, is one that keeps me motivated to continue through the pain and to keep pushing .
Throughout my sessions so far with Joanna, I have had new things to do each time we meet and all of the sessions are varied and fun. Each session is planned and is sent to me before we meet, so I know what to expect that evening. Joanna has pushed me to do more and go further than I thought I was capable of. I have now booked a further 15 hours with Joanne to take me through to my holiday in October, and I am very much looking forward to seeing how much I can go.
I cannot recommend PT sessions enough and everyone in my family and the people I work, with are getting rather tied of me talking about It all of the time. but I don’t care. I feel a lot more positive and motivated , my health and fitness are improving week on week. It is the best decision and investment I have made.
After years of struggling with low self esteem and confidence, I had lost the ability to go to gym by myself and had no confidence in my own abilities. I was desperately unhappy with my body and with my wedding coming up I chose to act on this. After a few short weeks of working with Joey, not only have I lost weight and look amazing in my wedding dress for my up coming wedding but I have been to gym classes and to a gym by myself for the first time in over a year! Joey is friendly approachable and encouraging with all aspects of exercise and sets goals for next session! She's also a good laugh!... Although she will push you to prove to yourself you can do this and anyone can do this and it doesn't have to break the bank... If you want to improve your self challenge and stretch your limits Joey will help you like she is helping me I have a long way to go but it's worth every ache! I would recommend Joey to all of my friends she's amazing!
Following illness my fitness, strength and confidence all hit a real low. Finding Joanne has been great, she has been nothing but encouraging and supportive and her vibrant and positive attitude has kept me motivated. Every session has been tailored to me, never boring and pushing me just enough.... I look forward to our workouts! Her nutrition advice and training support have been invaluable to my recovery, fitness and my self belief. I couldn't recommend her enough!
I have worked with Joey once a week for the past 3 months and I seen massive improvements in my fitness, stanima and strength. I look and feel so much better. I also have more confidence in the gym as I have learnt some of the theory behind the exercise plans I am following. Joey is so supportive and friendly...exercise is now FUN!!!
